Hi, I’m Teresa. I make things.
Drawing is usually somewhere at the root of what I do, but I’ve never understood why an artist should have to choose one medium. An idea tends to arrive with its own way of being made: a linocut, a sculpture, a pattern, a story, something sewn, printed, carved, built—or occasionally something I haven’t figured out how to make yet.
For me, creativity lives somewhere between imagination and problem solving. There’s a mostly wordless part of my brain that can take an idea and begin translating it into lines, materials, dimensions and processes. Different kinds of work feed one another, so I’m happiest when I’m free to follow an idea wherever it goes.
Bunny81 came later, when I found my way back to making things after a long time away. Rabbits had become important to me as a teenager, during a time when art, music and the early internet made my world much larger than the one immediately around me. When I decided I wanted that creative part of myself back, bringing a rabbit with me seemed inevitable.
The 81 is just the year I was born. No secret code.
And perhaps my favorite part of making something is what happens when I share it: that little change in someone’s face when they see something that connects with them. Sometimes that’s the whole reward. Sometimes they want to take it home.
